AMAZING GRACE MARITIME MISSIONS

Programs
Program 1 [2021]
Medical Outreach Programs: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were not able to provide basic healthcare and minor medical and dental procedures with skilled medical volunteers as in previous years. However, we were able to provide medical supplies and health education to over 120 under served people in rural areas of Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesAug 1, 2020 – Jul 31, 2021Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$15.8KProgram 2 [2021]
Amazing Grace Ship Refit Project: After sailing 1,400 nautical miles to Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico from San Francisco, California, our 100' steel ship, Amazing Grace, began its transformation from private yacht into a medical ship. The ship refit began in the year 2017 and continues through 2021. Upon completion she will be the first volunteer medical ship to serve in Mexico. During the refit we have added 24 beds for both medical and maritime volunteers as well as adding medical exam, dining, and training spaces. The refit is expected to take a couple of more years. Why ships? Providing basic healthcare to remote coastal villages of the Sea of Cortez, Mexico is a challenge. They have limited or no road access. The nearest hospital or dental clinics are over several hours away. For medical professionals to serve these isolated communities, they would need a place to stay and eat; no hotels and restaurants available at these locations. With ships, we can deliver basic healthcare to these communities and provide housing and meals for the volunteer medical professionals and crew.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesAug 1, 2020 – Jul 31, 2021Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$44.4KProgram 3 [2021]
Education Programs: Our education programs provide at-risk youth from impoverished Mexican communities the opportunity to build character, hope and life skills through sailing, science and the gospel. Our sail camps provides the individual the ability to learn sailing and experience the ocean environment with its diverse marine wildlife on our fleet of sailboats ranging from 8' to 34'.. Through these experiences, we build their character to be able to address life's challenges by acknowledging that they are loved by the one true God through learning biblical principles of integrity, courage, love and grace. Our Science programs demonstrate science and engineering concepts utilizing Legos building blocks. While learning science, students develop communication and teamwork skills. American youth teams volunteer to help staff our camps providing a cross culture experience for them growing their worldview and inspiring them to a life sensitive to the needs of others. Approximately 75 students have been served this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which is significant less than previous years.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesAug 1, 2020 – Jul 31, 2021Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$12.2K
