Haitian School Lunch Program
Provide school lunch meals for 970 Haitian children in four communities. The remote mountainous Haitian communities are located in the south east portion of Haiti close to the Dominican Republic border. The Haitian communities are Trois Mares Chapottin St. Louis d'Ayiti and Bois Negresse. Packathons are organized and held in 3 US locations to purchase and pack meals for Haitian school lunches. The three US Packathons are: 1. Teaneck Packathon for Haiti Teaneck NJ held November 11 2022. 2. North Shore Packathon for Haiti Wenham MA held October 21 & 22 2022. 3. Gallatin Valley Packathon for Haiti Belglade MT held on Oct 15 2022. In these three events more than 1,700 volunteers packed 320,000 meals that will be used to feed 970 Haitian children school lunches in 2023. Across the thee Packathon events more than 40 team members were involved in the fundraising and organization. The events are overseen by the Future Forward for Haiti Inc. Support for the school in the Haitian community of Chapottin serving 180 children grades kindergarten through grade 7. The money sent was used for administrator salaries 2 teacher salaries 7 cook salaries 2 textbook workbook expense and new classroom construction. In addition to the support for the school staff solar lighting was purchased and installed in the classrooms. A new Micro-Loan program was also established where Small Business Training and seed money is made available to the adults.
