On-Scene Response
Our volunteers provide around-the-clock assistance, 365 days a year, offering on-site support for community members affected by crime or traumatic incidents. We work closely with 16 local law enforcement agencies and other emergency personnel to ensure that survivors receive the immediate support and resources they need. We provide a safe space for victims to share their experiences and work through their trauma. Additionally, we offer essential items like water, food, and blankets. The team also helps children experiencing trauma and offers childcare to allow victims to focus on their interactions with law enforcement and other agencies, or to cope with their grief. The team responds to instances of: •Homicide •Robbery / Burglary •Domestic Violence •Physical Assault •Sexual / Physical Abuse •Elder Abuse •Drunk Driving •Sexual Assault •Property Crime •Fire •Automobile Accidents •Missing Person •Sudden Death •Suicide •Overdose •Infant Death •Human/Sex Trafficking •And many other call types By fostering a safe environment for victims to express their emotions, the volunteer response team also provides a reassuring presence to help them navigate the challenges they face. This includes discussions about the next steps, offering resources, and connecting victims with other community organizations. The VCR Team services Outagamie, Winnebago, and Calumet counties, and is available to assist additional counties upon request. They are also prepared to provide support during large-scale traumatic events that may require their services.GeographiesOutagamie County, WI, USA;Winnebago, WI 54901, USA;Menasha, WI, USA;Calumet County, WI, USA;Appleton, WI, USA;Oshkosh, WI, USA;Neenah, WI 54956, USA;Omro, WI 54963, USA;Seymour, WI 54165, USA;Kaukauna, WI 54130, USA;Freedom, WI 54130, USA;Winneconne, WI 54986, USA;Hortonville, WI 54944, USA;New London, WI 54961, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedSexual assault victim services,Victim aid,Abuse prevention,Cybercrime,Impaired driving,Law enforcement,Missing personsAge groups,Cultural Heritage,Ethnic and racial groups,Family relationships,Gender and sexual identity,Health,Religious groups,Social and economic status,Work status and occupations916–Post Incident Calls
Our victim crisis responders (VCRs) provide support to victims/survivors of crime who did not receive on-scene support (due to unsafe scenes or other possible reasons). We offer resources and support to help those who have experienced a difficult situation. If needed, we will meet with victims/survivors of crime at a mutually agreeable location or over the phone. In-person meetings will take place at a police department, and our VCRs will bring resources for the victim, help victims fill out paperwork, such as the crime compensation form and discuss community partners that can help.GeographiesWinnebago County, WI, USA;Outagamie County, WI, USA;Calumet County, WI, USA;Appleton, WI, USA;Menasha, WI, USA;Neenah, WI 54956, USA;Kaukauna, WI 54130, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedSexual assault victim services,Victim aid,Abuse prevention,Dispute resolution,Cybercrime,Impaired driving,Law enforcement,Missing persons,Home safetyAge groups,Cultural Heritage,Ethnic and racial groups,Family relationships,Gender and sexual identity,Health,Religious groups,Social and economic status,Work status and occupations55–Crime Resolution Support Calls
A police department representative at each participating department will pull reports for Victim Crisis Responders to follow up on. This will typically be a crime contact program and will cover, but is not limited to, theft of property, damage to property, identity theft, neighbor disputes, assault, and harassment. Volunteer Victim Crisis Responders make three attempts to make contact with the victim. If contact is made the victim will be provided resources and be referred community partners that are able to provide them with long term support.GeographiesOutagamie County, WI, USA;Winnebago, WI 54901, USA;Calumet County, WI, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedSexual assault victim services,Victim aid,Abuse prevention,Cybercrime,Impaired driving,Law enforcement,Missing personsAge groups,Cultural Heritage,Ethnic and racial groups,Family relationships,Gender and sexual identity,Health,Religious groups,Social and economic status,Work status and occupations195–
