Dance Theater Performances
Dance Theater Performances: Conceived, developed & presented dance theater performances for the general public at venues in Houston, TX including MATCH-Midtown Arts & Theater Center Houston, the Moody Center for the Arts at Rice University, the Miller Outdoor Theatre & Studio5 Performing Arts Center in Evanston, IL. Productions included: "Wonka!" A dance theater romp for family audiences February 18-26 at MATCH with a free livestream production for schools serving 3,000 students & June 10th at Miller Outdoor Theatre reaching ODP's largest & most diverse audience to date with 1,900 audience members & 1,100 joining via livestream. The season also included the world premier of ODP's newest immersive dance theater production "Bonnie & Clyde" co-presented by the Moody Center for the Arts at Rice University May 26-June 4, 2022. In fall 2022, ODP took "Bonnie & Clyde" on tour to Studio5 Performing Arts Center in Evanston, Illinois with four performances Nov. 4 & 5. Dance Theater Classes & Workshops: 2022 marked Open Dance Project's return to inschool programming with the launch of its new program "Project Imagine Dance" supporting new dance teachers in Houston Independent School District's K-5 classrooms. Guest Artist Residencies/Artist Exchanges: Guest Choreographer Laura Harrell created a new work for Open Dance Project's "Shortcuts" program that took place in October 2022. ODP sponsored 2 apprentices in our professional apprentice program throughout 2022.
