NATIONAL COALITION FOR HOMELESS VETERANS

Programs
Veteran Housing Support Initiative
The education program informs the public about the challenges facing homeless veterans and inspires action through donations, volunteering, and local initiative-building. We operate a dedicated toll-free line to connect veterans experiencing a housing crisis with immediate resources in their community. This includes referrals to housing, shelter, employment opportunities, financial aid, legal assistance, food programs, and other essential services.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesOct 1, 2023 – Sep 30, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$1.1MVeteran Homelessness Education Program
Direct training involved hosting focus groups with aging veterans, which helped us identify gaps in the system, highlighting that aging veterans experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity are a distinct subgroup at the intersection of three systems: Veteran, Homelessness, and Aging. Developed a series of self-paced learning modules hosted on nchv.org to educate the public and members about veteran homelessness.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesOct 1, 2023 – Sep 30, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided––Veteran Advocacy and Policy Initiative
Legislative advocacy - we actively engage with Congress, the Executive Branch, and federal agencies to advance policies that address the root causes of veteran homelessness and expand support systems. We also created a congressional site visit guide and advocacy toolkit to help members better engage with lawmakers. Our advocacy efforts aim to ensure long-term, systemic change that benefits veterans across the nation.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesOct 1, 2023 – Sep 30, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided––
