UU Social Justice Coordination
UUSJ serves as a social justice coordinator enabling collaboration and cooperation among UU congregations affiliated organizations and individuals nationwide as part of civic engagement. Available to the public UUSJ maintains a website with information a calendar of events and lists of resources for UU and interfaith social justice activities. The UUSJ website includes links to such activities related resources and speakers. Materials are intended for related services or presentations on congregational policies or programs regarding social justice issues and to inform the public of UUSJ's work. UUSJ has four priority policy issues: immigration environment and climate economic justice and healthy democracy. UUSJ publishes a monthly e-newsletter and periodic alerts highlighting social justice programs initiatives and opportunities particularly those of member congregations and interfaith activities. Our ultimate goal is to help prepare UU congregations and individuals to achieve a just compassionate and sustainable world community and to be able to conduct more powerful efforts and increase UU visibility in the public arena on matters of social justice concern reflecting our principles and sources. Continued the UUSJ Capitol Hill Advocacy Corps. through a fifth year into the start of a sixth making virtual visits to convey UU views on our priority issues; Conducted virtual webinars briefings and training to build skills pertinent to activity on our priorities and for social justice outcomes or build awareness on the nuance of issues. These have been open to the public to UU congregations as well as our friends and and members. Our programming has highlighted the intersectionality of justice concerns to strengthen our ability to "connect the dots."
