OAcademy Digital Orchestra Academy
OAcademy is a Hemispheric digital orchestra academy connecting the world's most iconic music instructors and performers with a rigorously selected cohort of 80 rising musicians from across the globe, many from underrepresented communities. For participants, the annual 6-month journey focuses on the cultivation of essential skills required by professional musicians in an era when music making formats and structures are rapidly shifting. Using technology to create powerful learning opportunities and career advancing networks for those with limited resources, OAcademy is working to level the global music playing field by breaking down age-old centers of access. Co-curating institutional partners include The Curtis Institute of Music, The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, The Organization of American States, Canada's National Arts Centre, and Bard College Conservatory.Beyond its core orchestral academy, OAcademy houses two branded off-shoot activities: Accelerator and The Carlos Miguel Prieto Conducting Fellowship. Accelerator helps music institutions around the world to access results-oriented, high-caliber instruction from industry-leading global instructors. The Global Leaders Program empowers the next generation of change-makers in music to transform lives and communities through an innovative twelve-month Executive Graduate Certificate in Social Entrepreneurship, Cultural Agency, Policy Leadership, Organizational Management, and Teaching Artistry. Led in partnership with 9 top universities and think tanks including Harvard, Duke, Georgetown, McGill, NYU, and Bard College; a world-class Faculty of Nobel Laureates, Grammy winners, Polar Prize awardees, and TED presenters; and a network of institutional Fieldwork hosts spanning 40+ countries - the Program is offered annually to a select Cohort of 60 rising leaders in the field from around the globe.Beyond its core offering, The Global Leaders Program houses a number of branded off-shoot activites. The Gabriela Ortiz Composing Studio provides a lab for emerging composers to take the next step in a global career. The Gabriela Montero Piano Lab provides immersive training to rising pianists where they learn from one of the world's top leading soloists and composers.
