HEAD START IS A COMPREHENSIVE CHILD DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM DESIGNED TO ASSIST CHILDREN AND PREPARE THEM TO ENTER KINDERGARTEN AT A LEVEL WITH ALL SOCIO ECONOMIC LEVEL CHILDREN. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES CHILDREN WITH ACTIVITIES THAT HELP THEM GROW MENTALLY, SOCIALLY, EMOTIONALLY AND PHYSICALLY. The Early Head Start program seeks to meet the changing needs of Tazewell County by serving low-income children and their families. Not only does the Early Head Start Program seek to provide educational opportunities that help children begin their preparation for school, it also seeks to help and to empower parents as they adjust to the rapid changes that both they and their youngsters are facing. Children sixteen months through three are eligible to attend as well as pregnant mothers from throughout the county.
