Virginia Chamber Orchestra Concerts
The VCO also provided outstanding continuing musical experiences to many hundreds of listeners in the beautiful Meadowlark Botanical Gardens. It is difficult to describe all of the elements which came together to make it happen, but the concerts have grown in popularity and attendance. We began the 2023/24 season with a series of four fall concerts at the Korean Bell Pavilion and Garden within Meadowlark Botanical Gardens. All the concerts attract about 1,600 attendees every summer MARCOLIVIA CLICKS WITH BARTOK was presented on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at The Falls Church Episcopal Church. Featuring Marcolivia, award-winning classical violin and violin/viola duo, performing the works of Arnold, Bartok, Tchaikovsky, & Dvorak. A wonderful reception followed the performance and all agreed it was a fine evening. REMEMBERING FAURÉ was presented with soloists Fotina Naumenko, soprano Karl Hempel, bass with the Alexandria Choral Society and the VCO Orchestra in a side-by-side collaboration with the American University Symphony Orchestra, all on stage at the Capital One Hall on March 9, 2024. Music Director David Grandis led the Virginia Chamber Orchestra in Gabriel Faure's Requiem, marking the 100thAnniversary of the death of one of Frances most BRIAN GANZ ENCHANTS WITH BEETHOVEN featured Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 and was a great performance. Sunday, April 14, 2024. Music of Vaughan WiIliam and Mendelssohn was also performed. Each of our performances hosted Wounded Warriors, USO, and Northern Virginia underserved. Arts Fairfax gave VCO a grant of $5000 to fund complimentary tickets for these groups. About 1000 attended out concerts in 2023, which included about 450 Wounded Warriors, USO members and Underserved of Northern Virginia. Community visual arts organizations were invited to display works at each of the concerts. As we end 2024, the VCO is presenting the Spring Series at Meadowlark to ever growing audiences. I cannot overstate the success of this program and the impact it has had on the visibility and stature for the VCO in Northern Virginia.
