In fiscal year 2020/21, StepUp Wilmington served more than 250 individuals and placed 130 jobs. In response to the coronavirus pandemic, it successfully switched to a virtual and on-demand training platform for its Job and Step2 programs and provided various types of client assistance to its program participants and graduates, half of whom were economically impacted by the pandemic.StepUp Wilmington's Job Program is designed to teach and empower participants with the skills and strategies needed for finding employment. It begins with Jobs Week, a 32-hour, week long training workshop that teaches job seekers the skills needed to find and maintain employment, and continues in Step2, a 9 month Life Skills program. Step2 is for adult participants who have obtained employment and their children. The goal is stability in all aspects of life.In FY 2020/21, StepUps social enterprise initiative to create a staffing business gained momentum with the launch of Beyond Talent, its job-placement division. Beyond Talent secured over 20 contracts in the Cape Fear region and placed 25 candidates into jobs with an average wage of over $14/hour. In addition, the placements generated an employer-paid fee for the organization. Beyond Talent leverages the organizations existing base of business partners and strong workforce services to provide opportunities for its program participants in the broader jobs market. over the long term. In fiscal year 2023/24, StepUp Wilmington served more than 400 individuals and places 263 jobs. StepUp's operations returned to fully in-person training for its Job and Step2 programs, the latter of which was rebranded to CareerUp during the fiscal year, focusing more on developing careers for StepUp candidates. In FY 2023/24, StepUp continued to build and grow Beyond Talent, its social enterprise staffing initiative acting as the primary job placement division for StepUp's "job ready" candidates. Beyond Talent maintains 30 contracts in the Cape Fear region and placed 24 candidates into jobs with an average wage of over $15/hour. In addition, the placements generated an employer-paid fee for the organization. Beyond Talent leverages the organization's existing base of business partners and strong workforce services to provide opportunities for its program participants in the broader jobs market. FY 2023/24 was the second year of operations for its Restorative Opportunity Internships (ROI) program.
