Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services
During fiscal year 2023 The Cleveland County Abuse Prevention Council provided services to 3,535 victims of domestic violence and 2,410 victims of sexual assault. The Council provides advocacy, counseling, education, emergency and specialized services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and homeless women and children through the provision of:24-Hour Crisis Line for victims of domestic violence, or sexual assault. Safe, secure, emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence or sexual assault and homeless women and their children who are Cleveland County residents. Case Management to assist clients to access housing, employment, financial aid, childcare, health care, job skills, transportation, parenting, nutrition, and other services.On-site support for victims of domestic violence or sexual assault at the Cleveland County Courthouse including assistance with 50B or 50C protective order process, accompaniment to civil or criminal proceedings, and referrals to legal representation including Legal Aid. On-site support for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence at Carolinas Health Care System - Cleveland, the Cleveland County Health Department, Kings Mountain Hospital and other local medical offices and facilities. Prevention and awareness education relating to sexual assault and/or domestic violence for community and school groups.
