Health and Safety: 15 child care facilities received training and assistance (through grants for space design and materials) to improve nutrition and physical activty for their students incorporating Outdoor Learning Education at each site. Several of the child care sites are producing vegetables and implementing cooking activities in the classroom. Twenty-four (24) facilities received training assistance to improve nutrition and increase indoors and outdoors physical activity. Fourteen (14) faciities are producing fruits and vegetables and implementing cooking activities in the classroom and utilizing vegetables in the kitchen to bring from garden to the tables. Children are allowed to make decisions of which vegetable they would like to taste. Twelve (12) Site Directors participated on the Child Nutrituion Road Trip; we designated 3 sites that already implemented the family style lunch to host the sites directors. We were also able to engage and bring 12 sites together to observe family style lunch This was a great experience and opportunity for other sites to see what the 3 pilot sites are doing dudring their family style lunch, and observe children being independent serving and making choices. Consequently, after the child nutrition road trip, modifications were made to individual lunch menus, replacing vegtables serving to fresh vegetables and replacing fruits with syrup with more fresh fruits for snacks and lunch.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2020 – Jun 30, 2021Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$161.5KProgram 3 [2021]
