Help Me Grow Long Island
Launched in January 2018, Help Me Grow Long Island (HMGLI) is a FREE resource connecting families and providers to community resources and child development information in Nassau and Suffolk counties, with the mission of promoting optimal development of Long Island’s young children. HMGLI provides free, virtual, ongoing support to families to meet the needs of their young children, and trains providers to use developmental screens with the families they serve. Help Me Grow Long Island isn’t an agency, but a partnership based on a national model for organizing existing agencies with the goal of more efficiently and effectively reaching and helping at-risk children. HMGLI is coordinated by Docs for Tots and is connected to United Way of Long Island’s 2-1-1 phone system.GeographiesLong Island, New York, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedEarly childhood education,Family servicesEthnic and racial groups,Caregivers,Families,Non-adult children,Parents,Pregnant people,Economically disadvantaged people5K–BRITE Enhanced
Docs for Tots partners with family and group family child care providers in Nassau County and Queens to support their work and enhance the social-emotional well-being of the infants and young children in their care. It also addresses the ongoing challenges that providers have with caring for children with suspected developmental delays or behavioral concerns. BRITE Enhanced offers a free, 10-week hybrid support model that includes weekly check-ins (both in person and virtual) with a Mental Health Consultant. The consultant collaborates with providers to develop goals that strengthen the social-emotional environment, gives them easy-to-use strategies to use in everyday routines, and provides them with ongoing support to manage the demands of caring for children. Services are available in English and Spanish. Advancing Support for Assistant Providers Pilot (ASAPP) ensures Family Group Childcare Assistant Providers/Educators in Far Rockaway are onboarded efficiently with the skills for promoting social-emotional well-being, and that babies and toddlers receive consistent care. ASAPP has two major components: coalition building and creating and implementing an onboarding package for Assistant Providers/Educators in Family Group Childcare. We will come together with individuals, organizations, and the New York City and State systems such as PDI/QUALITYStarsNY, CCR&Rs Child Development Support Corporation, NYC DOE ECE, ECE On The Move, and local community-based organizations to form the ASAPP Coalition to focus on the increased efficiency of service delivery to Family Group Childcare Providers/Educators, by identifying and filling gaps.GeographiesFar Rockaway, Queens, NY, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedEducation,HealthInfants and toddlers,Caregivers––
