    Camp Discovery had a unique, yet meaningful 2020 year, serving students and families in new and different ways. We created a Nature to Your Doorstep model of program delivery that provided both virtual and hybrid programs. We partnered with Homeless No More Families to bring environmental education programs to their transitional housing site. We also increased our work with NASA Langley and became the lead site for 12 organizations in the NASA GLOBE Goes to Camp model. In addition to hosting field studies and community events, we held a semester-long professional development training for 20 educators.

  • Camp Discovery Educational Programs

    IN 2022, CAMP DISCOVERY EXPANDED ITS PROGRAMS FOR SCHOOLS TO INCLUDE MINDFULNESS COMPONENTS TO ADDRESS AN INCREASE IN EMOTIONAL STRESS AMONG STUDENTS. WE CONTINUED OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE NASA GLOBE GOES TO CAMP PROGRAM BECOMING THE LEAD MODEL CAMP FOR THIS PROGRAM. SUMMER CAMP OFFERINGS WERE INCREASED. OUR NASA DISCOVERIES PILOT BEGAN WITH 20 STUDENTS ATTENDING MONTHLY FIELD STUDIES. SOLAR PANELS WERE DONATED AND INSTALLED INCREASING CAMP DISCOVERY'S SUSTAINABILITY.
