Animal and Community Services
ANIMAL AND COMMUNITY SERVICES - Making a true impact requires a holistic approach to caring for pets in shelters and those living in our communities. In FY2024, Atlanta Humane's programs reached 143,407 animals through direct assistance and community support. We provided care for 4,017 animals in our shelter and performed 7,100 spay/neuter surgeries for shelter pets, community cats, and animals from partner organizations. At the same time, we focused on keeping pets with families who love them by distributing over 1 million pounds of pet food across Georgia. Our Animal Protection Unit served as a trusted resource for counties statewide, offering expertise in cruelty investigations and disaster response-empowering officials and strengthening animal welfare systems where they're needed most.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesOct 1, 2023 – Sep 30, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$10.7MRemedy Pet Care

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT - In 2024, Atlanta Humane served as a vital resource for community members seeking support, guidance, and care for the pets in their lives. Through our Resource Center, we connected with 25,513 community members, helping them access our free pet food programs and diverting shelter surrenders to our Pets in Crisis Program so families can stay together. These connections also enable us to understand our community's changing needs, and we utilize that data to prioritize our mission work. As a trusted voice in animal welfare, we continued to show up for our community in person through workshops and events as well as through mass media channels like our annual telethon-ensuring pet owners across Georgia have easy access to the resources and support they need.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesOct 1, 2023 – Sep 30, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$1.6M
