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eographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2021 – Jun 30, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$10.2MProgram 1 [2024]
The Schenck School's three largest service areas are the day school, study lab, and summer camp. The day school was fully enrolled for the 2024-2025 academic year, serving 250 students in grades K-6. The Schenck School provides students with dyslexia the tools and strategies they need to become confident, independent learners. Using proven methods such as The Schenck School Reading Model and the Orton-Gillingham Approach, students at The Schenck School build a strong foundation in reading while developing skills to support their academic growth. Most students attend the School for two to four years before transitioning to mainstream educational settings, prepared to succeed in their next learning environment and beyond. The Study Lab program provides specialized homework support to more than half of our 2nd through 6th grade students, offering structured assistance four days a week after school. Additionally, our summer camp serves elementary and middle school students, reinforcing key skills in a supportive and engaging environment. For current Schenck students, summer camp helps maintain and strengthen the strategies they've developed during the school year, ensuring continued progress over the summer months. Students from across metro Atlanta attend our summer camp and return to their schools with strengthened reading skills.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2023 – Jun 30, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$11.1M
