Men Stopping Violence Programs
During 2022, MSV operated the following programs:(i)Men at Work: For 35 years, Men Stopping Violence (MSV) has conducted a 24-week educational course available to all men who are interested in exploring the issue of violence against women. This course is certified by the State of Georgia and covers how men can choose to be part of a movement to create safe communities for women and girls.(ii)Training and Community Education: MSV provides presentations each year to religious institutions, colleges, schools, criminal justice organizations, other nonprofits, corporations, government agencies, civic organizations and media. Having delivered training and consultation in forty-plus states, Washington DC, Europe, Asia, Africa, Canada, and the Caribbean, MSV understands that each community and organization faces unique challenges. Our diverse and skilled training team is prepared to meet the needs of the organization or community making the request.(iii)Kappa Alpha Psi/DeKalb Solicitor Internship Program: MSV and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity work together to bring a greater understanding of violence against women, particularly the importance of men being allies in the work of ending violence against women, to the young men and boys who are benefitting from the Kappa League mentorship program of KAP. This process begins with MSV providing education for KAP members who influence the young men we are seeking to recruit as allies. Every summer several young men associated with the KAP Kappa League intern with MSV and go through our youth violence prevention curriculum.(iv)Tactics and Choices: Men Stopping Violence, in conjunction with the DeKalb County Magistrate Court, provides a twice-monthly class for some men who have been arrested for domestic violence offenses in DeKalb County. The class examines mens use of abusive and intimidating tactics against women, and tactics used to enforce and maintain power and control. (v)Young Men Stopping Violence: MSVs newest program is in prototype status. MSV has identified connecting and influencing men and boys at younger ages to foster the best opportunities for healthy relationship establishment, identifying toxic and unhealthy behavior, and building confidence to be outspoken ambassadors and advocates for change.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$535.3K
