  • Atlanta Freedom Bands Performance Programs

    The Atlanta Freedom Bands (AFB) have achieved many milestones both as a whole and within each of the individual performing groups Concert Band, Marching Band, Color Guard and MetroGnomes. Most notably, we have gained many new members, changed our operations for the better, performed at more gigs/events and maintained strong financials throughout the year. Membership engagement, donation and growth all improved in 2023. AFB Group received huge community response and interest from booth visitors. 280 mailing list sign-ups and 44 prospective new members. Further after many years at St. Paul UMC, we secured a new rehearsal venue for the concert band at Central UCC. The new space is larger and allows for more members and storage. We got better at bookkeeping, providing consistent financial reports and streamlined processes for accepting donations, payments for services, member expense reimbursement. Concert Band performed 3 concerts in 2023 Spring, Summer and Winter. We celebrated our 30th Anniversary and had 3 WABE Radio broadcasts showcasing our music. Marching Band and Color Guard performed in 14 events in 2023, ranging from parades, charity events and community events. Further, increased number of paid events and visibility of our mission. MetroGnomes performed in 9 events, most of which are paid events. Increased music repertoire and made purchases for better equipment and instruments.
