Programs
Program 1 [2020]
The Ovarian Cancer Institute compiled research on detecting more effective treatment of cancer, provided opportunities for medical professionals, and held seminars to educate women on possible symptoms of ovarian cancer and its treatment.OCI Funded research accomplishments for 2019 include:-Diagnostic test validation near completion. - In the first year of the new microchip project, the lab optimized and characterized the Cluster-Chip technology to analyze blood and ascites samples from ovarian cancer patients. The preliminary results show that circulating tumor cell (CTC)-clusters, which are highly efficient in initiating metastases, can indeed be found in blood circulation. Further studies continue.-Raised over $760,000-Many successful fundraising events, broadening our volunteer community with goals to advocate to communities all over the USGeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$155.6KOvarian Cancer Research and Innovation
THE OVARIAN CANCER INSTITUTE CONTINUES SUPPORTING OVARIAN CANCER RESEARCH PROJECTS THAT HAVE SUCCESSFULLY DEVELOPED A BLOOD TEST FOR OVARIAN CANCER THAT HAS NO FALSE POSITIVES (NECESSARY FOR A DISEASE WITH A 1/78 PREVALENCE IN THE POPULATION), AND WHICH IDENTIFIES 98% OF EARLY-STAGE OVARIAN CANCERS AND 89% OF LATE-STAGE OVARIAN CANCERS. THIS TEST WILL SOON BE SUBMITTED FOR FDA APPROVAL. FURTHERMORE, WE HAVE CREATED AI TOOLS THAT CAN OFTEN SUCCESSFULLY PREDICT WHAT DRUGS ARE LIKELY TO BE EFFECTIVE IN A GIVEN PATIENT WITH OVARIAN CANCER, AND ARE DEVELOPING A QUANTITATIVE UNDERSTANDING OF THE NEUROLOGICAL EFFECTS OF ANTICANCER DRUGS. FINALLY, WE ARE DEVELOPING TOOLS THAT CAN IDENTIFY CIRCULATING OVARIAN CANCER TUMOR CELLS, BEFORE THE METASTASES ARE DETECTABLE BY STANDARD APPROACHES.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$635.9K
