Program 1 [2021]
Girls on the Run of Atlanta is a physical activity-based positive youth development program serving girls in grades 3-8 in Georgia's Cherokee, Clarke, Cobb, DeKalb, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall and Oconee Counties. Programs utilize academically evaluated, intentional curricula delivered in small groups by trained, caring coaches. The positive impacts of our program have been proven through an independent longitudinal study. 97% of girls learn critical life skills. Girls who are least active at the start increase physical activity by 40% or more. And 85% of girls improve in connection, confidence, caring, character and competence. In 2020-21, we reached 747 girls!GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2020 – Jun 30, 2021Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$447.2KGirls on the Run Georgia
As an independent council of Girls on the Run International, Girls on the Run Georgia is proud to be part of the only national, physical activity-based positive youth development program with an evidence-based curriculum, trained coaches, and a commitment to serving girls and gender expansive youth. Since 2000, Girls on the Run Georgia has served more than 45,000 girls and expanded to more than 150 schools and community sites across Greater Atlanta, North Georgia, Athens and Golden Isles. It has been our long-standing priority to mirror our participants with the demographics of the communities we serve and we are proud that we are succeeding. This year, 73% of our participants were BIPOC, 60% reside in low-income, under resourced communities with limited access to youth development programs. Service to our amazing girls is enabled by a dedicated team of eight staff members, with the generous support of more than 1,500 volunteers serving as coaches and event volunteers, as well as those in leadership positions on our Governing Board and Young Professionals Board.Looking to the future, Girls on the Run Georgia hopes to bring our programs to any girl who wants it and every girl who needs it.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2023 – Jun 30, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$695.4K
