Naples Park Area Association
Programs
Civic Improvement and Community Engagement
The objectives of the Association are to provide a working organization for the furtherance of civic improvement, to provide social and recreational activities for its members and their guests, and to sponsor educational projects for its members and the general public. Examples of civic improvement are: 1 petitioning local government agencies to pave the roads in our subdivision. Meetings were held at the clubhouse on our property, our board invited speakers in and provided space for neighbors to discuss the issues. 2 The board members petitioned the CDC to provide initial Covid vaccinations in our neighborhood. Meetings were held with officials and calls were made. The immunizations were held at by the Collier Fire Department at the Pelican Bay Community center. All information was communicated to our membership list of 600 plus members. They were invited to register. These types of activities took many hours over months of time to complete. There was no funding required. All was done with volunteer hours. These two examples show we did this work to improve health and welfare conditions to our members and our community at large. We hold 4-6 Membership meetings annually where we discuss our activities and bring in a community speaker to address all members and neighbors who attend. This is communicated by email to our 600 plus members and with the use of flyers. Past speakers have featured the Sheriff's department discussing fraud prevention and neighborhood safety, Code compliance personnel have discussed county codes for personal property. Friends of Delnore Wiggins State Park have discussed the functions of the state park. We have also held meetings for information on supplemental Plan B insurance for retirees. These meetings and speakers take hours to arrange, advertise, set up space, and greet attendees. The meetings take place in our clubhouse. We provide a place for our members to get community information and ask questions of our officials. We have partnered with the area elementary school to provide Trunk or Treat activities on our property for a safe Halloween experience for children. All members participating donate their time and candy for this event. This event strengthens ties with all ages of neighbors in our community and hosts a safe holiday event. We also provide space for activities for our members. These events have been and currently are: cards and games, Mah jonng, yoga, bocce ball, shuffle board, and bone builders exercise class for over 55. These events are available to members and non members for a nominal use fee (from $1 to $15 per session). Annual dues for members are $30 per person. Non members are invited to attend our events for an additional fee. We also host dinner dances and food truck mixers. These events are all volunteer run. Any costs are covered by an entrance fee ranging from $10 for a mixer to $30 for the dinner dances. These social events have committees who plan, purchase food and drink and setup and serve. The time involved is several hours over months. All these events whether educational as in our meetings, social, exercise or project bases such as paved roads and vaccinations enrich our community and the lives of our friends and neighbors. NPAA has been functioning and improving the community since the 1950s all with volunteer labor and community spirit.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesMar 1, 2024 – Feb 28, 2025Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$0
