    Clinical Workforce Development -ACU expanded its workforce training and technical assistance for federally-qualified health centers through a National Cooperative Agreement with the Bureau of Primary Health Care. The Solutions Training and Assistance for Recruitment & Retention Center (STAR2) was launched in 2014, and focuses on providing assistance to health centers across the country. ACU developed profiles for each health center and has worked to tailor and target assistance to areas of highest need. ACU has partnered with a number of state Primary Care Associations and other National Cooperative Agreement recipients on outreach, training and technical assistance on this national project.ACU received support for these projects and services from federal grants, contracts, and private partners.

    QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMS - ACU HAS PARTNERED WITH CONCERT HEALTH FOR SUICIDE SAFER CARE, THE LARGEST EFFORT TO ENGAGE PRIMARY CARE PROVIDERS IN THE HISTORY OF SUICIDE PREVENTION. GENEROUSLY SUPPORTED BY CENTENE, THE SSC PROGRAM INSTRUCTED NUMEROUS PROVIDERS AND THEIR TEAMS IN EVIDENCE-BASED STRATEGIES TO PREVENT SUICIDE IN PRIMARY CARE IN 2020. IN ADDITION TO PRIMARY CARE PROVIDERS, THE TRAININGS REACHED 109 NURSING PROFESSIONALS, 319 BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CLINICIANS, AND NUMEROUS OTHER FRONT-FACING STAFF AND ADMINISTRATORS.AS PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) SUPPLIES RAN LOW IN THE FACE OF THE EMERGING CRISIS, ACU STEPPED IN TO CONNECT OUR COMMUNITY WITH PPE TO HELP PROTECT PROVIDERS AND PATIENTS. WITH THE AID OF OUR KEY PARTNER CENTENE, WE WERE ABLE TO SUPPLY MORE THAN 100 HEALTH CENTERS FROM ALL CORNERS OF THE NATION WITH VITAL PPE TO SUPPORT THEIR WORK CARING FOR PATIENTS ON THE FRONT LINE OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.

    Member & Constituent Services - ACU represents clinicians and organizations at the local, state and national levels. It is unique among health care organizations in focusing on those who serve the underserved and in providing a national network for clinicians, students and advocates; education and resources relevant to their clinical practice and research; and opportunities to advocate for low income, multicultural, and limited English-proficient communities.ACU members and constituents receive regular updates on clinical resources and policy updates.
