The Good Life Semester Programs
FALL, WINTER, MAY AND BRIDGE PROGRAMS:FALL: The Good Life Gap Semester: a semester study away program for college age students. We hosted 21 students for an 11 week program. Students received 10 college credits for completing three college courses during our program via our agreement with University of Maine Farmington. The courses offered were: The Good Life (4 credits in Philosophy or Religoius Studiues) and The Good Life for All (4 Credits in English) and The Creative Life (2 credits). In addition to the academic aspect of the program, students participated in immersive experiences in nature, mindfulness practices and learned to use visuals to capture ideas and facilitate dialogue. WINTER: A Good Life Writers Retreat: a month long study away program for college age students. We hosted 16 students. Students received 4 college credits for completing a college courses during our program via our agreement with University of Maine Farmington. The course offered: Writing in Fire and Ice (ENG 177). In addition to the academic aspect of the program, students participated in immersive experiences in nature, mindfulness practices and learned to use visuals to capture ideas and facilitate dialogue. MAY:The Good Life May Term: a month long study away program for college age students. We hosted 21 students. Students received 4 college credits for completing two college courses during our program via our agreement with University of Maine Farmington. The courses offered were: The Good Life (4 credits in Philosophy or Religoius Studiues) and The Food Life Course (2 Credits in English) and The Creative Life (2 credits). In addition to the academic aspect of the program, students participated in immersive experiences in nature, mindfulness practices and learned to use visuals to capture ideas and facilitate dialogue. BRIDGE: The Good Life Bridge Term: 8 students participated in the Bridge Semester, which included both our in-person January Term (Wintering Writers Retreat) and our in-person Good Life May Term program. From February through April, Bridge students participated in our dynamic, discussion-based online programming, which included The Good Life Course plus a three-part Mindfulness Course plus a two-part course on Finding Purpose plus a few casual hangouts. ALUMNI PROGRAM:Alumni from various cohorts gathered for our inaugural Seguinland Summer Reunion, a week-long immersive experience designed to rekindle connections, reflect on personal growth, and continue the transformative conversations begun during their gap semester. Hosted on the Seguinland Insititute campus, the reunion brought together students from cohorts spanning 2019-2024, representing a diverse range of colleges, careers, and life paths.
