Women of Alabaster Day Ministry
Day Ministry: Women of Alabaster (WOA) offers women a place of refuge providing meals, a quiet place to rest, counseling and prayer. During 2022, the average number of visits to the Day Ministries each month was 47 guests in Cincinnati and 24 in Hamilton. Each Day Ministry operates two days a week. Prior to the pandemic, the ministry operated only the Cincinnati Day Ministry. With heightened emphasis on outreach during the pandemic, the ministry teams identified an increased number of victims of sex trafficking in the Hamilton, OH area, north of Cincinnati, opening the new location in early 2022. Through the Day Ministry programs, WOA builds trusting relationships in providing client trips to medical and legal appointments, assistance with groceries, and transportation to detox or recovery facilities.WOA collaborates with several other ministries, including the UC Health HIV Program, Path Homeless Team and Transitional Living Consultants, Salvation Army End Slavery and the Addiction Council, in order to provide the best pathway to freedom for victims of sex-trafficking.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$84.3KContinuing Support for Survivors of Sex-Trafficking
Continuing Support to Survivors: WOA maintains long term relationships with survivors of sex-trafficking who have chosen the next step in a pathway to freedom. First, AGAPE Farm (opened in the summer of 2020)is a residential facility operated by WOA in a country setting where women experience faith-based counseling and trauma-centered therapy. The farm offers a safe haven and the opportunity for women to learn life skills and pursue educational opportunities. Agape Farm is open to victims of sex-trafficking who have "graduated" a detox program, and are ready to begin long term recovery. In 2022, the AGAPE program celebrated with one of the residents who completed her 2nd year in the program, and earned her college diploma.Another program offered to Survivors is the monthly "Dinner and Devotions" to show continuing support to survivors (in addition to periodic informal connections). On average 4 to 6 survivors attend the Dinner and Devotions each month. In 2022, an annual retreat was held for survivors with 8 women attending. Two of the survivors participate in the general portion of the monthly WOA board meetings.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$36.5KWomen Outreach and Support Services
Outreach teams connect with women currently on the streets, offering food, toiletries and prayer - making the initial connection in building trusting relationships. During 2022, outreach teams encountered on average (each month) 33 women in Cincinnati and 12 women in Hamilton to build that initial trust. Locations for outreach are continuously adjusted to reflect the need, with weekly outreaches taking place in Over-the Rhine, the West End, Price Hill Hamilton, OH and Covington, KY. The success of the outreach in Hamilton to connect with women seeking a pathway to freedom resulted in establishing WOA's second Day Ministry in Hamilton, Ohio in early 2022. One of our church partners provides an outreach van at no cost to WOA (other than fuel).GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$13.5K
