Program 1 [2020]
For 35 years, we have assisted grassroots Central Americans to improve the economic development of their communities. Unfortunately, drought, violence and COVID have forced thousands to become refugees. Many have decided to build a new life in Mexico. We have helped them create microenterprises and find microfinance to move them from emergency to stable development. In 2020, we made an extensive research trip to meet with immigrants who have asylum from the Mexican government. We met with allied Mexican and international organizations. We helped develop a MFI in its lending to Central Americans. We assisted immigrants in Mexico find entrepeneurial education, loans and to earn money to support their families.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$98.3KProgram 2 [2020]
In 2020, we assisted an international development organization to substantially improve the teaching of youth in Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. We evaluated the program and wrote over 300 pgs of advice including a new manual teaching how to change their training program to help low-income youth become entrepreneurs. We created an annotated Literature Review of better practices that is the most comprehensive worldwide. Also, we continued our 4-yr technical assistance to youth in El Salvador. We provided vital financial support for university scholarships so that these youth could return to Suchitoto and build businesses to revitalize their communities. The assistance helped solidify their youth organizations to allow them to get contracts and be an agent of economic development.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$35.2KProgram 3 [2020]
IDEAS has specialized in assisting low-income women in Central America to run their businesses and become leaders, evaluators, consultants and economic developers. We continued our training to assist especially women. We are experts in many types of evaluaton and developed new techniques. We expanded our impact evaluation that assists all 4 actors. The first are socially responsible investors who lend to entities with a triple bottom line of improving the lives of the poor, environment and sustainability of funding. We worked with the 2nd actors that provide funds to developing countries. We are experts in the development of third actors: social enterprises. We worked for 4 decades with the 4th actor: low-income peoples' organizations that receive funds and create the impact sought by all of the actors in the chain. Women become active leaders as well as being beneficiaries. In 2020, we ensured that all our activities were aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$43.6K
