HEALTHY LIVING: CSM FACILITATES A GARDEN CENTER AT OUR HEADQUARTERS USING TRADITIONAL GROWING METHODS TO PRODUCE FOOD FOR OUR PARTNER DISTRIBUTION. EDUCATIONAL ADVANCEMENT: BY PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR ONGOING EDUCATION AND MENTORING IN THE COMMUNITY, CSM SUPPORTS SCHOOLS AND AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS WITH VOLUNTEERS AND RESOURCES. WHILE PROVIDING TOOLS FOR BETTER EDUCATION, THESE PROGRAMS ALSO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR CROSS-CULTURAL RELATIONSHIPS, RACIAL RECONCILIATION DISCUSSIONS AND WORKSHOPS, AND TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES AROUND YOUTH ENGAGEMENT, VOLUNTEERISM, AND HOW TO WORK WITH THE POOR.IMPROVED HOMEOWNERSHIP: THE CSM HOUSING MINISTRY IMPROVES HOME EXTERIORS THROUGH PROJECTS SUCH AS PAINTING, SIDING, ROOFING, DECK REPAIR, AND WHEELCHAIR RAMP CONSTRUCTION AND IMPROVES HOME INTERIORS BY MAKING THEM LIVABLE AGAIN THROUGHOUT BIRMINGHAM CITY. SPIRITUAL FORMATION: CSM SPONSORED GOSPEL-CENTERED PROGRAMS IMPACTING THE BIRMINGHAM AREA FOR CHRIST THROUGH PROGRAMS SUCH AS THANKSGIVING BASKETS OF KINDNESS, SUMMER CHURCH CAMPS, AND THE CHRISTMAS IN THE CITY PROGRAM.RESOURCES MINISTRY: CSM DISTRIBUTES FOOD, PERSONAL CARE, AND OTHER TANGIBLE RESOURCES TO PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS IN THE GREATER BIRMINGHAM AREA TO INCREASE THEIR CAPACITY TO SERVE MORE PEOPLE. Resourcing: Campus Utilization: Our 3.85-acre campus is a hub for distributing resources. Disaster Support: We provide essential aid during natural disasters. Health Equity: We work to improve health outcomes in underserved communities. Initiatives and Donations: We facilitate food and product donations from corporations.Training: Mentoring: We offer training and mentoring for churches, pastors, schools, and after school programs. Cultural and Social Programs: Our programs include cross-cultural relationship building, reconciliation discussions, and workshops. Community Engagement: We provide training on church engagement, volunteerism, and working with the materially poor.Construction: Housing Projects: We build and repair homes to improve living conditions. Neighborhood Restoration: We restore neighborhoods and revitalize communities in Birmingham's inner city. Collaborative Efforts: We partner with churches, businesses, agencies, and volunteers to fund and complete projects.
