Educational Services at McArthur Burney Falls
Educational & Interpretive Services at McArthur Burney Falls State park: 35,000 Visitor Guides were printed & distributed to park visitors. The Visitor Center provided services to 5,220 visitors. One hundred twenty Interpretive activities were conducted for 2,777 children and adults including Art In the Park Day, trail & bird walks, campfire presentations, Junior Ranger and Discovery Challenge sessions. 1300 visitors completed the Discovery Challenge and received 2024 patches. MBFIA paid Shasta Wildlife Rehabilitation and Rescue $500 to conduct 5 campfire presentations to 207 children and 157 Adults. Three Ports casts were held on the geologic history and ecology of the park attended. Website interpretation was provided via the internet throughout the season. Twelve hundred adults & children attended Heritage Day, held in October with Old Time Fiddlers, ropemaking, branding, log sawing, candle making, apple juicing, cornhusk dolls, embroidery and other activities of the 1870's. Two more Interpretive Signs were created to replace damaged signs at the Falls Overlook and the Falls Loop Trail. Five campfire presentations were conducted by the SWRR on birds, wildlife and ecology of the Castle Crags Area. The Association processed and bundled firewood for 1,000 campers and provided Discovery Challenge patches to park visitors during the months of April through October 2023.
