Friends of Front Street Shelter Support
Friends of Front Street Shelter is incredibly grateful for the continued support of our donors in advancing our mission to support the Front Street Shelter and pets and their people in our Sacramento community. Whether it is through everyday giving campaigns, estate gifts, organized campaigns like Big Day of Giving and Giving Tuesday, or attendance and support through our in-person fundraising efforts, the outpouring of support from the community reminds us that the community is behind us in the work we do. We have used these funds to continue our support for needs within the Front Street Shelter. We have continued to fund the hiring of part-time, on-call contract veterinarians to work at Front Street Shelter while the City sought to fill empty veterinary positions. We have received dollar-for-dollar reimbursement from the City for these expenses, at a cost of over $400,000 in 2024. Friends of Front Street seeks no additional fees or costs for providing this service to the shelter and the City. Additionally, we fund the provision of outside care to shelter pets in need of specialty procedures the shelter cannot facilitate, spending almost $70,000 for this extraordinary care. Our Friends of Friends Rescue Grant program provided grants to 35 rescue organizations, who worked with Front Street to transfer 200 pets in need of medical or behavioral rehabilitation. Those grants help facilitate the care of those animals and help our organizations work together to share the cost of saving lives. Our AdoptUs Hospice program also provided over $12,000 in veterinary reimbursements to adopters of pets with hospice conditions, enabling families to open their homes to Front Street pets with terminal illness without the stress of affording the veterinary care necessary to keep that pet comfortable and happy in the final chapter of their lives. We also purchased a forklift at a cost of over $25,000 to facilitate essential daily tasks at the shelter facility. We provide substantial assistance to the community outside the shelter in an effort to assist pets and families in the community and prevent shelter intake. By far our largest community program, the Owned Animal Veterinary Assistance program provides urgent and emergency care to pets of owners experiencing financial hardship. In 2024 our program served over 200 families at a cost of over $258,000. We also continued our partnership with the Community Spay Neuter Clinic to fund the spay and neuter of over 2,000 cats in 2024, spending $198,000 to help end the cycle of community cat overpopulation. It is impossible to describe here every way in which our donors support helps us positively impact the community, but we are sincerely grateful for all that our supporters enable us to do for pets and people in our region.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$1.3M
