Summer training program. Each summer society volunteers are taught the basics of archeological field work so they are able to assist the professional archeologists throughout the year. The training program is also a true research field study for the professionals. A different research location is every one to two years. Research articles publications. Newsletters and a Bulletin are published during the year. This keeps volunteers up to date on the research being done in the state and gives them an opportunity to see where volunteers may be needed. Each year the Arkansas Archeological Society holds its Annual Meeting. On Saturday, papers on current archeological topics are presented by professional and amateur archeologists from throughout Arkansas, in a 20-minute format, usually with slides. The annual Business Meeting is held Saturday morning. This is a chance for members to see the results of their volunteer activities.
