Program 1 [2020]
The Louisiana Association of Self Insured Employers (LASIE) is comprised of 253 members of which 134 have voting rights. Its membership is made up of group self insurance funds, individually self insured employers, deductible policy employers, third party administrator companies, insurance agents, and other peripheral businesses. During 2020 LASIE was able to provide services to its membership in various forms, which include: (1) The Association newsletter, known as "The Watchdog Report" is produced and emailed to the membership throughout the year providing timely worker's compensation updates and other important industry information; (2) Quality continuing education seminars to both members and non-members to help them develop more efficient and effective workers' compensation programs; (3) The Certificated Workers' Compensation Professional (CWCP) program and the Certified Medicare Secondary Payer (CMSP) program to teach workers' compensation professionals the specialized knowledge and skills required in the field; and, (4) The annual workers' compensation conference (held November 4 & 5, 2020). The conference provides fellowship for members and non-members and promotes the right of businesses to self insure through education. Various topics were presented during the conference - all related to the operation, regulation, legislative and legal issues affecting the self insurance industry.
