Leadership Academy and Health Services
Initiated a Leadership Academy, the purpose of which is to orient and train OCMS members for future leadership positions at county, state, and national levels. The Academy included instruction in finances, business partnerships, political processes, media relations, public speaking, board leadership, parliamentary procedure, business community involvement, cultural community involvement and organized medicine. Co-sponsored the Open Arms Free Clinic which provides health carefor uninsured residents of Oklahoma County. The Society isresponsible for providing primary care physicians to staff theclinic and specialty physicians in the event the patientsmedical condition cannot be treated at the clinic. Staff membersof the Society also volunteer each evening the clinic is opento the public. Acted as liaison for the voluntary community-wide on-call system.This system coordinates the emergency services in the county tomaximize the effectiveness and efficiency of the services of allof the participating trauma centers, resulting in vastly improvedemergency medical services for residents of Oklahoma County.
