Child and Family Care Services
Child-Focused and Family-Focused Care: Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children (OBHC) is the largest provider of private not-for-profit, residential childcare in the state, placing children in a safe Christian environment. In Child-Focused Care, up to eight children are placed in a cottage-style home under the supervision of a houseparent couple. From meals and bible studies to campus programs and education, staff members strive to help shape children into caring, capable adults. College and Career programs are available to them after high school graduation as they continue their education. During 2024, OBHC served 122 children through its child-focused care ministry, while another 22 lived in the College and Career program. 10 children accepted Christ as their Savior during 2024. Family-Focused Care is a ministry developed to help single mothers and their children, who may have limited or no support. The goal is to help these families become productive and more self-sufficient by providing a stable and nurturing place to live while equipping, assisting, and teaching important skills. Areas include parenting skills, career development, spiritual development, church involvement, relational needs, money management, and education. The Hope Pregnancy Center ministry (HPC) offers free, confidential, medical-grade pregnancy testing and education on all pregnancy options. Ultrasounds are used to determine pregnancy and gestational age. Empowered Parenthood classes on pregnancy and baby care are offered for expectant moms and dads. Adoption education and referrals are available and abortion recovery classes are provided for those hurting from abortion. HPC has 7 locations throughout Oklahoma in addition to a mobile unit. During 2024, 94 individuals accepted Christ through the Hope Pregnancy Center ministry. HPC served 3,325 individuals and 1,283 ultrasounds were provided, with 87% of those who received an ultrasound choosing life for their babies. Foster Care Ministries is an initiative with three primary goals. The first is to assist churches in the development or enhancement of foster care ministry that encourages, supports and ministers to resource families within their church and community. Secondly, it connects families interested in becoming foster parents with licensed child-placing agencies throughout Oklahoma. It also provides opportunities for ongoing training.
