Community Programs and Health Services provided over 12,000 services to blind or low vision clients. These programs and services included a low vision rehabilitation clinic, behavioral health, multi-care day center activities, youth programs, volunteers/client services, technology evaluation and education, diabetes education, apartment living, and information and referral services. The Lighthouse of Houston offers three premium business service lines, call/contact centers, document management and kitting/packaging that focuses on creating jobs for people who are blind or low vision. Service contracts are secured from Federal, State, and commercial opportunities. On-the-job training and employment includes customer service representatives, switchboard operators, document management clerks, mail sorting, virtual mailroom clerks, medical transcriptionists and kitting, packaging and fulfillment jobs.
