Community Concert Performances
Performances: During the 2023-2024 Season, Mercury performed Downtown Series concerts at the Wortham Center and three Neighborhood Series concerts at four venues across Houston. Mercury's intimate and accessible performances of a wide-ranging repertoire are designed to connect with Houston's diverse communities. The orchestra is known for using period instruments which help create its vibrant, signature sound. Education: In 2023-2024, Mercury offered teaching residencies in three Houston-area public schools, which develop important music skills and help foster life skills such as teamwork, self-expression, personal responsibility, and leadership. Mercury musicians also toured six public schools, performing bilingual programs that integrated classical music into the curriculum. Live Streaming Concerts: Since the pandemic began in March 2020, Mercury has live-streamed all ten of its programs for at-home audiences. These programs are also available for a week following each concert, allowing in-person audiences to re-live each performance.
