  • Community Engagement and Support Initiatives

    GOTV Program reached 15,600 individuals in the City of Atlanta; COVID campaign reached 1340 persons by tabling in stores and churches; The BLOCK, youth initiative organized 4 boot camps with more than 90 youth attending; 240 members participated on a two day training Leadership Workshop; 43 weekly committee meetings were held, 23 combined with digital resources; GLAHR staff participated in 118 workshops; GLAHR hired 7 individuals to fill positions on finance and operations, community radio, communications coordinator, art creative coordinator, community counsel, and two youth organizers; GLAHR provided assistance via its hotline to over 1,200 individuals, and referred 300 individuals to lawyers, counseling and services; GLAHR through the Georgia Immigration Bond Fund provided released fund 15 families; GLAHR Jovenes (Teenagers) initiative had 26 virtual and 3 in person meetings, plus 7 book club meetings; GLAHR social media reached organically reached 940,668 individuals; GLAHR Community Radio held 336 digital shows, captivating an audience of 370,789 individuals, using Facebook and YouTube platforms.

    COMMUNITY ORGANIZING & LEADERSHIP TRAINING DURING 2024, GLAHR ORGANIZED 34 WEEKLY HYBRID COMMUNITY MEETINGS AND 7 WEBINARS WHERE AN AVERAGE OF 65 MEMBERS FROM ATLANTA AND STATE-WIDE GATHERED TO LEARN AND DISCUSS POLICIES SUCH HB1105 AND IFZ [KNOW YOUR RIGHTS]. THERE WERE 27 COMMUNITY OUTREACH EVENTS AND 7 COMMUNITY ORGANIZING MEETINGS WITH MATERIALS DISTRIBUTED THROUGH 10 TABLING EVENTS AND VISITS TO CHURCHES AND COMMUNITY SPACES ACROSS THE STATE. GLAHR HELD ITS 14TH ANNUAL ASAMBLEA POPULAR IN LAGUNA BEACH, FLORIDA IN JULY. AROUND 200 GLAHR MEMBERS, FAMILY, STAFF, AND SUPPORTERS PARTICIPATED IN LEADERSHIP TRAINING WORKSHOPS, ARTS AND CULTURAL EVENTS, AND COMMUNITY BUILDING. ACTIVITIES WERE DESIGNED FOR ALL AGE GROUPS. MORE THAN 350 MEMBERS PARTICIPATED IN LEADERSHIP TRAINING THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, INCLUDING THOSE WHO ATTENDED THE ASAMBLEA POPULAR AND MEETINGS OF THE BLOCK AND GLAHR JOVENES.
