Program 1 [2018]
The Architectural Foundation of Santa Barbara (AFSB) increases the awareness and knowledge of the architectural field through a variety of programs. During 2016, approximately 200 children between 3 and 18 years of age participated in the Kids Draw Architecture Program which allows children to appreciate and learn about architecture and the architectural profession. During 2016 400-450 people participated in walking tours of historic downtown Santa Barbara to learn about archictecture in the community. AFSB is headquartered in the historic Acheson House. Approximately 1,200-1,400 people visit the Acheson House to attend events or visit the art gallery that displays high quality artwork that explores the relationship between architecture and fine art. Nine exhibits are displayed each year. The Built Environment Education Program (BEEP) is an extended studio type experience in design and problem solving for elementary level students in Santa Barbara County Schools serving approximately 175 students. The Built Environment Education Program (BEEP) is an extended studio type experience in design and problem solving for elementary level students in Santa Barbara County Schools serving approximately 175 students, on hold this year due to COVID 19. In a normal year 400-450 people participate in docent-led walking tours of historic downtown Santa Barbara to learn about archictecture in the community. AFSB is headquartered in the historic Acheson House in downtown Santa Barbara. Approximately 1,200-1,400 people visit the Acheson House to attend events or visit the art gallery that displays high quality artwork that explores the relationship between architecture and fine art.
