Bay Area Bike to Wherever Days
Regional Bike to Wherever Days - this program is administered by SVBC to encourage participation of all nine Bay Area counties in this keystone annual event. Each county organizes Bike to Work and Bike to Wherever Day/Days programming including 1-3 days of energizer stations to reward bike riders + many other public events encouraging ridership. A synopsis of Strava Metro data gathered during Bike Month shows that total trips by bike in 2023 in the Bay Area seem to be mostly back to pre-pandemic levels after the remarkable 2020 pandemic bump up. San Francisco stands out with a very high and steady rate of bicycle trips. Bicycle commuting is recovering but remains below pre-pandemic levels in most counties except Napa, Sonoma, and Solano where bicycle commuting stayed consistent throughout. In terms of the number of people biking, most counties are down from the previous year but still have more people biking than pre-pandemic. Sonoma's people count did not vary much year to year.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2022 – Jun 30, 2023Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$776KBiking Advocacy and Community Organizing
Advocacy & Community Organizing - staff helped individuals from 9 cities organize to advocate for safer biking and walking, lead easy community bike rides, and increase "local team" participation. To this end, the staff created and published a toolkit for "local teams" which are city-based groups of concerned citizens. This resource provides support for those interested in encouraging local government to invest in roadway and other infrastructure changes to make bicycling safer and more accessible for more people. Advocacy staff held monthly forums and quarterly trainings drawing an average number of attendees to forums of 56. All nine teams saw increases in membership.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2022 – Jun 30, 2023Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$274.4KCommunity Social Rides Program
