Advocacy Training and Resources
Poligon's skilled trainers provide a general overview of Congress, the advocacy process, and how to participate in office visits, town hall meetings, and phone calls with Members and/or their staff. Attendees, who vary in age and political experience, then practice the skills they learned through live simulations and receive immediate feedback on their performance. In addition to trainings, Poligon provides constituents with a myriad of educational resources and content. Hill Happenings, our weekly newsletter with headlines from Congress, reaches over 700 people. Our audience also receives a variety of other resources including: Action Alerts, or directions to contact Members of Congress on specific issues, as needed; policy guides and briefs explaining legislation and its impact; and step-by-step guides on advocacy. Additionally Poligon launched a COVID Policy Update Center and informational animated video as a response to the Coronavirus crisis to ensure our constituents are aware of legislation that impacts our community. These resources are published on our website and social media, and are available to the general public. In the future, we aim to also engage in special projects, including developing Congressional report cards during election years, creating media for the general public such as "How to Call a Congressional Office", and and organizing and participating in Congressional briefings to educate Members of Congress on issues important to the American Muslim community.Because we work within numerous political, religious, and civil rights coalitions, Poligon has built relationships with organizations on advocacy campaigns to push important pieces of legislation and educational resources. We aim to serve as connections on Capitol Hill and within interfaith/intrafaith coalitions to serve as a resource for Members of Congress on the pulse of Muslim American constituents and push for positive policy change on domestic issues such as the Muslim travel ban, Islamophobia, and civil rights. Our work takes place in coalition spaces with other organizations from diverse groups, representing different communities. We are active leaders on national advocacy efforts and with the groups highlighted below.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2021 – Dec 31, 2021Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$82.2K
