Traditional Skills and Arts Program
TRADITIONAL SKILLS, CRAFTS AND ARTS: Central to fulfilling Avon Hills' Mission is building and enriching community through the teaching and sharing of traditional skills, craft and art. We do this through connecting local and regional artists, makers as well as naturalists from many cultural backgrounds with members of our local and regional community. In the past year we estimate to have reached between 160 - 180 adult learners, engaged 15-20 artists/makers and offered 42 experiences and classes. Given our location within the Avon Hills Conservation Overlay District we weave nature into many of our experiences and classes, constantly exploring what is possible at the intersection of Art & Nature.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2023 – Dec 31, 2023Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$97.4KYouth Traditional Skills Programming
YOUTH PROGRAMMING: Avon Hills Folk School youth programming (under 18 years of age) offers classes and experiences involving traditional skills, crafts and art similar to, but adjusted for the young learners. In addition we provide experiences deeply rooted in and taking place in the natural environment for our young learners, including TimberNook and other nature-based programming. Children grow in their confidence and experience in: creativity, collaboration, physical, social-emotional, conflict resolution, self-regulation, executive functioning and moving within and experiencing the natural world, in community with other children, often of diverse backgrounds. In 2023 we delivered programming to between 250 - 270 youth under 18 years of age.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2023 – Dec 31, 2023Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$30.3K
