LA River Habitat Restoration
Habitat Restoration & Stewardship: LARSPP supports the ongoing habitat restoration and stewardship work at the LA River State Parks creating climate resilient landscapes for both people and wildlife along our unique stretch of the river. We work collaboratively with State Park staff and local community groups and organizations on programs and events. In 2023 these included Earth Day Climate Action! at LASHP with Project Monarch LA 4.22.23 creating habitat for the endangered monarch butterfly as well as an ongoing bird-focused restoration at Rio de Los Angeles with NFWF partners Audubon at Debs Park Theodore Payne Foundation and Terremoto Test Plots. We also foster and help manage ongoing volunteerism and community engagement with neighborhood schools and groups such as Sotomayor HS CalCreative Everlasting Education and LA Works.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2023 – Dec 31, 2023Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$36.2KCommunity Engagement Programs

Advocacy: As part of a broad coalition advocating for equitable green space in Northeast LA in 2023 LARSPP successfully worked to protect our parks from encroachment and development threats including a proposed digital billboard at the Bowtie site that would impact wildlife and a proposed aerial gondola through LA State Historic Park that would degrade the park's southern third. We also supported park infrastructure and development including the long-sought Ann St. crosswalk over Spring St. at LA State Historic Park The Nature Conservancy's Bowtie Demonstration Project and the work of the 100-acre Partnership and Taylor Yard Equity Strategy.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2023 – Dec 31, 2023Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$84.1K
