English Language Learner Program
English Language Learner Program: The English Language Learner Program provides leveled classes for limited English proficient (LEP) students with small class size for beginning learners, including those with no formal education. More than 40% of SHC students report no formal schooling and are not literate in their native language. In 2024, the online English Language Learner Program had 1162 enrollments during three 11-week sessions (Fall, Winter, Spring) and one-five week (Summer) session. 86% of students had attendance of 70% or higher. A secondary component of the program are Welcome Workshops which are conducted in-person. Participants engage in English, learn practical skills for outside the home environment, and develop the social skills and confidence necessary for broader community engagement. A synchronous SHC Preschool meets twice per week on Zoom for children (ages 3-5). Preschool meets concurrent with SHC online adult ELL classes and is taught by a certified and experienced ESL teacher. Children who accompany their parents to Welcome Workshops are engaged in a complementary SHC preschool program.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$563.2KCitizenship Preparation Program
