Business Incubator and Community Support
Multi Use Building - Business Incubator - Awarded design and Specification phase to 7 Directions, a native owned Architecture and Engineering firm, for the construction of the two new buildings for Plenty Doors and incubated businesses.Crow Merc Building - Completed renovation of building to allow Plenty Doors staff to move into offices. Grocery Store Feasibility Study - Completed phase 1 of grocery store feasbility study and started phase 2 of the feasibility study. Phase 2 will include concept development and community research. Business Incubator - Completed Business incubator feasiblity study and economic leakage study. The study revealed an 85% economic leakage on the Crow Reservation and any business that provides a service to the community would be beneficial. Business Support - Small Business Owners - 38, Lodge Grass High School students taught intro to Financial Literacy - 30, community members attendance to Credit Builder classes -108. Indian Equity Fund - Assisted six applicants successfully submit completed applications to the Montana Department of Commerce Indian Equity Fund, a grant available to native owned businesses. CDFI - Plenty Doors was approved by the board to offer small personal loans and credit builder loans. Plenty Doors closed 23 small personal loans. Strengthen Workforce through partnerships: Day Labor Program - Partnered with Western Native Voice and Little Big Horn College to offer Day labor in the Wyola and Crow Agency communities. Completed 10 weeks of Day Labor with 10 laborers per day at Crow Agency and 5 laborers per day at Wyola Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each week. Over sixty indivdiuals particpated.Apsaalooke Energy Justice (AEJ) - Partnership with Montana State University - Bozeman, University of Wyoming and Little Big Horn College to understand how past Crow Tribal leadership decisions have impacted the current economy. Also identified 10 leadership cohort members to assist with the process, learn about public finance and to particpate in a project associated with the AEJ Project. Workforce Development - Partnership with Little Big Horn College to help ensure the success of the newly expanded trades program. Plenty Doors provided gap funding for programs like the purchase of software programs, fuel for the Commercial Drivers License (CDL) program. Also partnered with LBHC to renovate Plenty Doors building. LBHC Building Maintenance instructor and students provided the workforce, and Plenty Doors provided material and tools. Water, Sanitation and Hygiene:Green & Healthy Homes and Well Training - Offered two day Green & Healthy Home training and Well Training to community members. Eleven individuals participated. Train the Trainer - Green & Health Homes Four virtual classes in Oct. led by Green & Healthy Homes Initiative (GHHI) Comprehensive Health & Safety Home Assessor "Train the Trainer" 10/4, 28 participants, 10/11, 23 participants, 10/18, 12 participants, 10/25, 14 partipcants.WASH Assistance - Assist three homeowners with water system related issues. Replacement of hot water heater and dilapidated pipes to sewer. Replacement of hot water heater and replaced water pipes, kitchen/bathroom sink, changed out bathtub.
