PROVIDE TRAINED AND CARING PEER SUPPORT TO INJURED AND DISABLED OFFICERS AND THEIR FAMILIES ASSIST LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS WHO ARE INJURED PHYSICALLY AND PSYCHOLOGICALLY TO OBTAIN THE TREATMENT AND MEDICAL/FINANCIAL BENEFITS THEY ARE ENTITLED TO WHEN THEY SUFFER LINE-OF-DUTY INJURIES PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AS NEEDED ON A TEMPORARY BASIS ADVOCATE FOR STRONGER PROTECTIONS UNDER STATE AND FEDERAL LAW PROVIDE EMERGENCY FUNDS TO INJURED OFFICERS WHEN CIRCUMSTANCES DICTATE THE NEED ADVOCATE FOR THE POSITIVE PUBLIC PERCEPTION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT. Program 1: Peer Advocate Support & Crisis ResponseDescription: The Wounded Blue operates a nationwide peer-advocate support network for law-enforcement officers who are physically or psychologically injured in the line of duty (or retired and disabled). Each peer advocate is a current or former officer who has lived experience of injury or trauma. The network responds by phone, text and email (including 24/7 confidential hot-line) and connects officers and their families to emotional support, referral services (medical, mental-health, benefits) and ongoing follow-up.
