Stability Leaders Support Program
Stability Leader Support: In order to have its desired impact on communities around the globe, The Stability Network offers a robust system of support to its recruited Stability Leaders. This support includes free access to The Stability Network's Advocacy Storytelling Training Program that is based on an expert model of advocacy-based storytelling. Stability Leaders have the opportunity to participate in webinars and workshops, as well as one on one coaching and mentorship, all designed to equip the advocates to frame their mental health stories in a way that highlights the positive transformation in their journey and leaves those listening with an imprint of hope. The Stability Network also offers a variety of speaker training resources such as a Speaker's Manual and training exercises. In 2022, The Stability Network further developed its Advocacy Storytelling Training Program by training three new Speaker Coaches, Stability Leaders who coach fellow Leaders on how to effectively tell their stories and prepare for speaking engagements, and by developing a formal Speaker Affirmation Process to better support Leaders who wish to become public speakers. The Stability Network offers a myriad of opportunities for Stability Leaders to gain support for their mental health and connect with each other to collaborate on joint mental health efforts. In 2022, these opportunities included: peer facilitated virtual support groups, access to an exclusive Stability Leaders-only website portal to connect with other Stability Leaders, an open mic event, and a local meetup in Seattle. In 2022, The Stability Network recruited 39 new Stability Leaders, expanding to Trinidad and Tobago, Nigeria, Turkey, and Spain, supporting a total of 339 Stability Leaders.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$55KMental Health Communications Initiative
Communications: To reduce stigma and realize its vision of a world where all people with mental health challenges can thrive in supportive workplaces and communities, The Stability Network focuses its communications efforts on traditional and social media. With its message of hope, The Stability Network has garnered national and local press (TV, radio, and print), and has recognized a need for voices of lived experience to dispel negative stereotypes around mental health often portrayed in the media. In 2022, The Stability Network published 14 blog posts featuring the voices and insights of the official Stability Leader Blog Team. The Stability Network also hosted one Fireside Chat featuring Founder and Sr. Advisor, Katherine Switz and Executive Director, David Song. The Stability Network also published a recording of its "The Power of Storytelling" event, an "Our Founder's Story" video, and four Leading the Way campaign videos on its website and YouTube channel. The Stability Network focuses its social media efforts on LinkedIn and Facebook. On both platforms, the organization shares inspiring stories of its Stability Leaders as well as resources and events from partner organizations, recruits more potential Leaders, and leads individuals to its website to find further encouragement. In addition, five Stability Leaders' stories were featured in the World Health Organization (WHO)'s World Mental Health Report. In 2022, The Stability Network's website added thirteen new story profiles designed to inspire and encourage those who read them, through sharing Leaders' mental health journeys and insights. The website also serves as a critical marketing vehicle for companies and community groups looking to secure speakers for mental health talks and for the media looking to engage with specific Stability Leaders.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$49.1KAdvocacy Storytelling Training Program
Public Speaking: The Stability Network, with the help of its partner, Living Proof Advocacy has designed the aforementioned Advocacy Storytelling Training Program in order to carry out its mission to inspire, encourage, and reduce stigma. Through this program, The Stability Network trains its volunteer advocates to be effective speakers and deploys them to share their lived experiences with mental health conditions in workplaces, community centers, and beyond. The aim of these talks is both to encourage those experiencing mental health challenges to seek the treatment and support they need to recover and live well, as well as to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health. The organization opens the mental health dialogue in workplaces, allowing individuals to feel more comfortable asking for the accommodations they need. Through inviting Stability Leaders to share their experiences, employers are given the opportunity to take on a complex topic and learn how to better support their employees living with mental health conditions. Stability Leaders also share their lived experiences for other mental health media platforms such as podcasts. In 2022, The Stability Network trained 29 new advocates with mental health challenges to share their stories in a psychologically safe and stigma-reducing way. The organization reached over 21,000 individuals and audience members with messages of hope through its speaking engagements at venues including nonprofits, companies, mental health platforms, and others.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$51.6K
