COVID-19 Relief Efforts for Cuban Churches
IN 2021, THE ORGANIZATION SPENT MOST OF OUR TIME FOCUSED ON THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH IN CUBA AND RELIEF EFFORTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. OUR FOCUS WAS TO EQUIP THE CHURCH PASTORS WITH FOOD SO THEY CAN DELIVER MEALS TO THOSE WHO MAY NOT HAVE EATEN THAT DAY. WE RECHARGED CELL PHONES FOR NEARLY 50 PASTORS TO HELP THEM STAY IN COMMUNICATION WHILE IN-COUNTRY TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS WERE IN PLACE OR WHEN A TOWN WAS PUT UNDER QUARANTINE. WE FUNDED SEVERAL CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS SO CHURCHES IN CUBA CAN HOLD WORSHIP SERVICES AND IMPROVED THE LIVING CONDITIONS OF PASTORS AND THEIR FAMILIES. WE ASSISTED IN THE ACQUISTION AND REPAIR OF TRANSPORTATION FOR PASTORS AND CHURCH LEADERS IN CUBA. WE PURCHASED WATER FILTERS TO BE BROUGHT TO CUBA WHEN TRAVEL REOPENS. THIS YEAR WE ALSO WORKED WITH THE CHARLOTTE MECKLENBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT TO DISTRIBUTE COATS TO THOSE IN NEED. AS REFUGEES BEGAN TO ARRIVE FROM AFGHANISTAN, WE PROVIDED SOME SHORT-TERM FUNDING TO HELP WITH RESETTLEMENT.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2021 – Dec 31, 2021Source990No causes providedNo populations provided––Program 1 [2024]
In 2024 we traveled to the island three times working in ministry for 17 days. During our visits, we were able to meet with churches located in the eastern, central, and western parts of the island. Using our export license, we did five shipments of humanitarian and ministry supplies which brought in over 22,000 pounds of needed supplies. From a humanitarian perspective, we delivered 700 high-quality and durable water filters providing clean water to an estimated 3,500 people. Using water filters, we also provided powdered milk to help children gain access to what is out of reach to so many families. In total, this milk represented nearly 10,000 gallons of milk. We were able to provide several pastors with electric motorcycles to improve transportation and did several construction projects to improve conditions at several churches.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$371.5K
