Program 1 [2020]
The Business Development Program builds capacity and provides technical support to help refugee farmers start and sustain small farm business through market and community sales as well as a vegetable subscription program (CSA). In 2020, the Business Development program supported the continued development and growth of 5 refugee farm businesses, helping their businesses collectively earn $167,670, increasing their income by 9.6% from the previous year. The Hunger Relief Program (Share-A-Share) addresses food insecurity in the greater refugee community. In 2020, the Hunger Relief Program donated 4,098.6 pounds of food to 280 food insecure refugee families monthly in 2020, increasing our donation distribution by 26% from the previous year. Additionally, this program supported 8 intermediate refugee farmers to collectively earn $19,419 through 11 distributions to local food banks. The Refugee Teen Leadership Program focused on leadership development through food justice activism, environmental and social justice.
