Programs
The Nurses Pub Club After School Program
The Nurses Pub received funding from The Los Angeles Unified School District to create a newly developed program that supports students from 9th-12th grade seeking a variety of medical professions inclusive of becoming nurses. The program was run via webinar due to the concern for the onset of the COVID pandemic. Over 50 students from three underserved school populations participated in the "The Nurses Pub Club After School Program." With the funding, students were provided scholarships, stipends, reading books, medical tools, backpacks, t-shirts, a scholarship luncheon and a host of professional speakers that acted as mentors. With our services, students gained access to recommendation letters for college admissions, resume critique and human resource support which included enhanced interview skills and presentation. Volunteers helped with our scholarship luncheon event. Two of our adult volunteers were provided recommendation letters which gained entrance from the "waitlist" to admissions at New York University School of Nursing and Columbia University School of Nursing.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$58KThe Nurses Pub COVID Testing Site
The Nurses Pub whose mission is primarily targeted for providing resources for nursing students with creative in person seminars, workshops and mentor to mentor matching is also a community based organization that supports underserved community populations and provided education for disease prevention during the COVID pandemic. The Nurses Pub operated The Nurses Pub COVID testing site which served more than 1,500 residents, primarily individuals experiencing homelessness in the city of San Bernardino. With the support of the funding from the state of California, residents received hygiene products, gift bags with food, water and first aid materials. Gift certificates were provided, socks and free COVID testing with follow up medical resources and education. The Nurses Pub employed student nurses, professional nurses and ancillary staff at top pay due to the challenging outdoor working conditions. Marketing strategies were implemented through radio advertising, social media and community outreach. The Nurses Pub received high ratings for excellent site operations from the California Department of Public Health, California.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$171KProgram 1 [2023]
