  • Nubian Nights Event

    RCD's flagship event for 2021 is called Nubian Nights. This event is a multimedia experience featuring jazz performances, art installations and digital projections. The Nubian Nights event occurred in Nubian Square in Boston, Massachusetts at Urbane Cafe, Black Market and the Nubian Gallery.

  • Community Development Investment Fund

    DIF is a State legislated value capture mechanism in Massachusetts that, when approved by a City Council, allows for the property tax increment created by new development and/or increasing assessed property values in a given district to be captured over a 30-year period and diverted to support specific capital projects within that same or similar geographic area. DIF can provide a designated area with annual revenue for community-based capital projects or, based on its estimated value over time, can be used to bond against for large upfront capital investments. To-date, DIF has not been implemented in Boston, but is active across the state and actively encouraged by MassDevelopment. DIF is particularly appealing for Roxbury, given that this tool enables community members to capture the benefits of new development activity and funnel this revenue toward projects that benefit Roxburys current residents and through community-driven decision-making.
