Feeding Children Initiative
Children - Public Education and Advocacy: Conducted meetings of organizations and agencies that serve food to children in school and childcare/afterschool settings to increase capacity of operations, share information on Federal policy, and encourage organizations to take additional action to increase the number of children fed. Worked with stakeholders to reduce administrative burdens and increase capacity across child-feeding programs to address hunger issues that were made worse by the Covid- 19 pandemic. Children - Public Education and Advocacy: Created a comprehensive public education strategy to increase awareness of infant and early childhood mental health (IECMH) needs in Louisiana by bringing together a diverse group of parties to tell their story from their local communities. Children - Support for Child-Serving Organizations: Conducted policy education events, including Children's Day at the Capitol, and Children's Health Day at the Capitol to bring together child-serving organizations and make policymakers and legislators aware of the work being done on behalf of children. Participated in stakeholder meetings of parents and providers to better understand the issues of early childhood well being and access to mental and physical health services and developed a plan to increase access to early childhood supports and services.
