In-House New ESOL Classes
BWA is launching a pilot ESOL program in March. We will be running a Beginner’s class and an Intermediate level class and we are currently doing registration and assessments. These classes will be facilitated by two long-time BWA volunteers, who have experience teaching English classes. These classes will be two hours, two times per-week, and the session will be 12 weeks. We know that in order to succeed in the career advancement trainings that we want our members to partake in, they need to increase their English language skills. By offering ESOL classes in house, we are paving the way for them to enter into skills training classes and be able to pass the licensure exams.GeographiesBrockton, MA, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedCommunity and economic development,Education,Health,Human rights,Human servicesAge groups,Cultural Heritage,Ethnic and racial groups,Family relationships,Gender and sexual identity,Health,Religious groups,Social and economic status,Work status and occupations65$39KIn person Know Your Rights
BWA has been conducting Know Your Rights workshops for immigrant workers the 3rd Sunday of the month, on zoom, and holding live, small-group sessions throughout the year. We do this work in collaboration with legal partners, they collaborate with our center and support our members with any technical aspects of the law. BWA supports workers to take action against abuses and injustices.GeographiesBrockton, MA, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedCommunity and economic development,Education,Health,Human rightsImmigrants and migrants,Domestic workers450$120K
